Corrected version?

Thank you Linda for your comment. I was going to begin making this afghan for my 21 year old grandson's "Man-ghan." I am an experienced crocheter but really don't have the time to figure out any adjustments. You have been a lot of help. Thank you again!

confusing

The pattern is difficult to follow as written--and I do refer to the recent corrected version. Rows 7-10 are repeated for the main body of the afghan. Each row consists of 114 stitches: 5-12 st repeats of the cable/rib pattern(60 sts) alternating with 4-13 st repeats(52 sts) of the lattice pattern plus 1 st at each edge. The 13 st lattice segment is the confusing part. It helps to realize that you are working into two different rows, the previous two rows. Row 8, for example, is worked into Row 7 and Row 6. Instructions for skipped sts sometimes refer to Row 7 and sometimes to Row 6. You are skipping 1 stitch on Row 7 and 3 sts on Row 6. The FPTr sts and FPTr2tog sts are in place of the skipped stitches on Row 7. The post stitches of Row 8 are worked into the posts of dcs 1, 5, 9 & 13 of Row 6, thus skipping 3 dc between post stitches.
Also the beginning stitch count has to go from 112 in Row 1 to 114 by the end of Row 5 if Row 6 is to work out correctly. It seems that clarity has been sacrificed so that the pattern takes up less space. This may be a time when symbol crochet or a drawing of some sort would help. The afghan itself is attractive and worth taking the time to understand the pattern.
