Whether you’re knitting for yourself or someone special, these patterns offer endless inspiration and lasting charm.
Originally designed using Mary Maxim Knitting Worsted, these projects pair beautifully with today’s wide selection of worsted‑weight yarns. With so many colors and textures available, you can recreate the originals or customize each piece to match your personal style. We recommend Mary Maxim Aran Irish Twist or Tweed in keeping with this Fisherman style sweater. Each pattern lists the yarn requirements in ounces, so be sure to check your chosen yarn to ensure you have enough—yardage/ounces can vary between brands.
Style 1 His and Hers sweater fits sizes: 34-36-38-40-42-44". You'll need 21-23-26-28-30-32 oz, knitting needles size U.S. 6 (4.25 mm),8 (5 mm), and a cable needle.
Style 2 Ladies' Cardigan fits sizes: 32-34-36-38-40-42". You'll need 19-20-22-23-24-25 oz, knitting needles size U.S. 6 (4.25 mm), 8 (5 mm), a cable needle, and 7 buttons.
Style 3 Ladies Sweater fits sizes: 32-34-36-38/40-42". You'll need 19-20-20-21-22 oz, knitting needles size U.S. 8 (5 mm) and 6 (4.25 mm), and a cable needle.
Styles 4-7 Family Sweaters, Hat and Scarf: Fits sizes 22/24-26/28-30-32/34-36-38/40-42-44". For the sweater, you'll need: 12-15-17-20-22-24-28-31 oz. For the Hat: Child 3, Lady/Teenager 4, and Man 4 oz. For the Scarf: Child 8, Lady/Teenager 10, and Man 11 oz. You'll also need needles size U.S. 6 (4.25 mm) and 8 (5 mm) (sweater and hat). For the Scarf, Needles size 8 (5 mm) and a cable needle.
Style 8/9 His and Hers Jacket and Hat: Fits sizes 34-36-38-40-42-44. You'll need 22-24-26-27-29-31 oz. The Hat requires 3 (22" circumference) and 4 oz. (23"). You'll also need knitting needle sizes U. S 6 (4.25 mm), 8 (5 mm), cable needle and 8 buttons for the jacket.
Style 10/11 Child's Jacket and Hat: Fits sizes 22-24-26-28-30-32". You'll need 11-13-14-16-17-19 oz. The Hat requires 3 (19" circumference) and 4 oz (21").
Stitch Requirements: Cast on, cast off, increase, decrease, knit, purl, stockinette stitch, through the back loop, slip marker, bobble, cable stitches, SP1, KB1, M3, MB, MK, T3F, T3B, T4F, T4B, C4F, C6B, C8B, C10B, and pick up edgings.
