Knit this pullover with our vintage pattern—the perfect go‑to sweater for any occasion. The beautifully detailed cables and textured stitches create a classic look that stands out without feeling overdone. Ideal for school, church, or heading out to walk the family pet, it’s a timeless piece they'll reach for again and again. Designed using Mary Maxim Starlette or Starmist (which had a frosty look), both were worsted-weight yarns that offered 140 yds per 2 oz skein. Shop our current selection of worsted yarns in today's trending colors and fibres, including Starlette! Be sure to check yardage, as it can vary. Fits sizes 10-12-14-16-18 years—Intermediate knit.
Materials List 10 (12, 14, 16, 18):
Worsted yarns: 16 oz (16, 18, 18, 20 oz)
Knitting needles size 5 (3.75 mm), 8 (5 mm), double-pointed needles size 5 (3.75 mm), and a cable needle.
Stitch Requirements: Cast on, cast off, knit, purl, repeat, increase, decrease, slip, stocking stitch, cable 6 back, cable 6 front.

This sweater is a fun knit and a bit challenging when doing the colourwork in Intarsia. I really enjoyed the process and I'm especially happy to get it as a kit with the pattern from Mary Maxim. The cardigan will be very warm to wear on cold days. The pattern is easy to follow and the yarn knits up quickly. FYI there is a very popular Facebook Group for Support for knitters making this sweater. It's called Project Hail Mary Fox Sweater Knitting Support. Many people who have never knit before have made this cardigan and they can ask as many questions as they like on the FB group. Thanks Mary Maxim for supporting us knitters and bringing this kit out in a superwash wool (we're so excited) and also just recently a crochet kit in very large sizes (people are swooning!).
