Crochet this shawl for baby with our vintage pattern. This pretty baby shawl is created using both crochet and hairpin lace techniques. Designed using Mary Maxim Teardrop orlon, which was considered a bulky baby-weight yarn with 6 stitches and 8 rows to 1". It offered 105 yds per 1 oz skein at the time. Check out our current fingering weight yarns for this project. Keep in mind that yardages can vary. Finished size 38 x 48"—Intermediate crochet.

This pattern turned out perfectly. The finished item worked out to the finished measurements and the wool washed and dried beautifully.
I finished it in time for the baby’s arrival.
However I did have a problem starting the pattern….which was my problem and not the directions. I ended up re-writing the directions myself. I could not get my brain around the way the pattern was written…..confusing to me. But once I re-wrote I was up and running.
It is a beautiful baby blanket and I think it will be cherished.
