There is a new Mary Maxim Yarn just in time for fall that I am very excited to share with you today. Mary Maxim Starlette Chunky is a super bulky size 6 yarn that will be your next go-to yarn for quick knit, and crochet projects, and a great yarn for big projects that are designed to make big impacts with stitches that really stand out. If you are a fiber artist who loves a good super bulky yarn, Starlette Chunky is the Mary Maxim yarn for you.
The first thing you'll notice when you pick up a ball of Starlette Chunky is how incredibly soft this yarn is and it's superior quality. I am just imagining all the beautiful hats and soft, cozy blankets (check out this DIY chunky knit blanket) I'll be making with this yarn to give to some of my favorite people. Starlette Chunky is 100% acrylic yarn and machine wash and dryable making it the perfect yarn for my busy household. It works up quickly, and I am not worried about kids spilling on it or dropping their hat and scarves in the snow on their way to play on the monkey bars. This yarn washes easily with simple and clear instructions and none of the worry like when washing delicate fibers such as wool or alpaca. To wash your handmade items made with Mary Maxim Starlette Chunky, simply wash using the delicate cycle for 2 minutes, then tumble dry using low heat for a maximum of 5 minutes. Remove from the dryer, reshape then lay flat to finish drying. Don't dry clean items made with this yarn. Looking for an alternative? Check out this super soft blanket yarn.
Super Bulky Yarn
Starlette Chunky is a true super bulky yarn. When knitting a gauge swatch using size 13 (9 mm) needles it achieves 9 stitches and 13 rows to 4 inches (10 cm) in the stockinette stitch, when crocheting a swatch using a size 13 (9 mm) hook, 6 stitches and 6 rows to 4 inches (10 cm) working in single crochet stitches is achieved. Each ball of Mary Maxim Starlette Yarn weighs 3.5 oz (100 g) and is 60 yards (54.864 meters) long. Free Crochet Floor Pouf from MJ's Off the Hook Designs
We asked Michelle Moore, the creative genius behind MJ's Off the Hook and Sentry Box Designs, what she thought of Starlette Chunky, and this is what she had to say.
"I'm always on the hunt for a great Super Bulky Yarn. I've fallen in love with Mary Maxim's new Starlette Chunky. It's the perfect substitute for my floor pouf pattern. It's thick enough to use only one strand and it makes a thick, sturdy pouf."

Brianna I., the designer behind the crochet blog Life and Yarn also had a chance to preview our newest yarn and had this to say.
"When I heard that Mary Maxim was creating a chunky version of their Starlette Yarn you bet I just had to have some! I have worked with the Starlette Worsted and Starlette Variegated and love them both! The Starlette Yarns are extremely high quality acrylics that come in amazing colors at an affordable price point! They wash and wear beautifully and are one of my favorite yarns to work with! I can't wait for these new Starlette Chunky Yarns to become my new favorite throw!"
